Pass on the Blessings by Pauline Jean (Haiti/USA)

I strongly believe in the World Citizens Artist mission of promoting global awareness through creativity. When the opportunity presented itself for the competition, I wanted to participate and feature my work among other talented artists with similar interests.

I am truly honored to be the recipient of the 2016 World Citizen Artists Award “ONE FOR ALL” Music Competition.

I am passionate about many causes. I am most passionate about ending hunger, affordable healthcare, equality, children and the elderly. No one in this world should go hungry, go bankrupt from medical bills, or be treated differently due to ethnicity, religion, gender, or sexual orientation.

My inspiration for the song 'Pass On The Blessings' is based on my encounter with people, who have encouraged me, shared words of wisdom with me and believed in me.

Their words and deeds were rooted in love, and have literally changed my life for the better. I wanted to use my experience in a more global sense. The concept of my song is based on the act of selflessness. If the human race can see each other through the eyes of love, and wants what is best for one another, then “we can change the world, live in unity, help each other grow” and leave for the next generation a good example to build upon.

Our children are our future leaders. We need to take the time and effort to guide them well. Our elders are equally important. They led us to where we are, and we must never neglect them.

Recently, I announced the premiere of my video entitled Their Blood, Bondye. I intended the audiovisual presentation to draw attention to the many people in Haiti who have been affected by Hurricane Matthew, and to raise funds for some of the many distressed musicians within one of the country’s worst affected areas, Jeremie. To help raise funds, the song. ‘Their Blood, Bondye’ is still available to download for a donation of $1.29 at http://bit.ly/NWAYO

All proceeds are donated to the Jeremie Disaster Relief Fund through the Haiti Jazz Foundation Inc., USA 501(c)(3). I will continue to use my platform to serve, bridge divides and connect communities through performances, workshops/master classes and collaborations with fellow artists, patrons of the art and organizations.

I want to work with people from different communities and origins to promote peace, hope, love and cross-cultural understanding. My mission is to be an artist without borders. My message to fellow musicians around the world who want to make a difference is: “Make a difference in the world by developing your passions and knowing yourself on a deep level. Always remember to perfect your God-given talent(s), surround yourself with positive influences, and recognize your strength and belief. As each of us has received a gift, we must use it to serve one another. Serve people by showing them how beautiful life can be when you live passionately by exploring it through your talents. The moment you remove self from the equation, you will no longer feel inadequate and/or the need to receive validation from others. Your talent is not to benefit yourself but others.”
